I personally like my steaks med. rare- and no one seems to be able to cook the perfect steak for me- with this I'm able to ensure the perfect steak every time! The probe is super long at 40 inches. The whole thing runs off batteries so you can use it inside or outside (summer is coming and I know I love to bbq all season long!) It runs on 4 AAA batteries- 2 in the device and 2 in the base, and each has their own on/off switch. This thermometer is top quality, when it comes to food safety you can never be too safe!
